Powell has hired and coached hundreds of the industry's top financial advisors—in multiple distribution channels—for more than 25 years. After starting his career as an independent financial planner in the San Francisco Bay area, he went on to spend more than two decades with Citigroup before deciding to pursue his passion for training and coaching.
In his lengthy career, Powell has managed branches for Smith Barney and led Citibank’s West Coast brokerage business, overseeing 290 financial advisors and 20 managers. During his branch leadership career he worked side-by-side with 45 financial advisors each producing over $1 million of revenue and helped them grow their practices.
Since joining CEG Worldwide, Powell has made a major impact at the firm. He delivered over 20 keynote speeches and 100 training classes in 2009 alone in the U.S. and Canada.
Powell earned a BA in economics from Stanford University and holds the CFP designation. Jonathan was also an All-American athlete and captain of the Stanford swim team. He is a co-author of Breaking Through: Building a World-Class Wealth Management Business.
